About 20×20 Masyu
A 20×20 Masyu grid has 400 cells. Your goal is the same at every size: draw a single closed loop through the centres of cells so that it passes through every pearl. Black pearls are corners with straight legs; white pearls are straight segments with a turn next to them. 20×20 boards are recommended for Masyu enthusiasts looking for a deep, absorbing puzzle that takes a real session to solve.
| Difficulty | Puzzles | Average pearls | Typical time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Easy | 40 | 167 | 25–45 min |
| Medium | 40 | 134 | 35–70 min |
| Hard | 40 | 102 | 50–100 min |
Fewer pearls usually means a harder puzzle: there are fewer starting points, and more of the loop has to be deduced from global rules. Times are a rough guide for an experienced solver.
Tips for 20×20 boards
- Zoom your browser or play on a larger screen; the board scales to fit.
- Mark ✕ on every edge you rule out — on big boards your memory is the bottleneck.
- Use Check sparingly to confirm a region before you build on it.
